John Dunning - Sign of the Book - Finished - 1/26/2009

PB - Well another new author to be on the lookout for. Ex cop and now bookstore owner Cliff Janeway is brought in to help his partner and "friend" lawyer Erin D'Angelo when she agrees to defend an old friend from school days who ended up stealing her boy friend. Laura is accused of killing her husband in their home in a small Colorado mountain town where the Deputy Sheriff has his own agenda stoked by the power of his badge and the judge is eccentric to say the least. It is discovered that Laura's husband had a large library of contemporary books, all signed by the authors or other well known people whose autographs increased the value of the books considerably. Laura has 3 children two of her own and and adopted boy who has never spoken and who plays a big role in the book. The story moves right along as Cliff, Erin and a local lawyer work to get justice for Laura and are unprepared for the unexpected ending.
