2009 # 17
Tana French - In the Woods - Finished - 2/2/2009
Jumping back to her first novel, we learn of events mentioned in the Likeness. In this one Cassie plays a secondary role and the story is narrated by her good friend Dectective Rob Ryan. A young girl is found dead on an ancient alter stone at an archeological dig just outside a housing development. This same development where Rob grew up and was the only one of three friends who was found in the local woods bloody and battered. The other two were never found. After being away for years he is back using Roy rather than Adam as his first name. The case and his trying to remember what transpired all those years ago has him combining the old and new investigations which fends up causing all kinds of problems with the case. I liked this book as well as Likeness for its good story and descriptive writing although it did take longer to read than most mystery novels.
