David Gibbins - The Lost Tomb - Finished - 12/11/2008
PB - An interesting one this. Again a new author for me, Gibbons takes us from AD79 to the present, from the ocean floor of Cyprus to the buried town of Herculaneum, to the Cloaca Maxima below the streets of Rome, crawling under the crypts of the Church of St, Lawrence Jewry. All this following clues to a supposed written text of the words of Jesus before the priests made changes over the years. While they are searching they are spied upon and followed and finally threatened by a secret group from the Vatican who are determined to keep the manuscript secret so as not to upset the current status and beliefs. Its a fairly good read with lots of historical and archeological information about early Christianity and Greek, Roman and British places in early history.
