After a slow start this one quickly picked up and ended up being a good and interesting read. Mikael Blomkvist is a writer and magazine editor who has just lost a libel case and is offered a job to write a biography/history of an elderly industrialist. He somewhat reluctantly accepts the job and signs a contact for a years work which includes trying to find a young woman of the family who disappeared from the island home of the family when she was 16. Its years later and she is still gone and the industrialist is still searching. Part family saga, part mystery with one particular character who gives the title to the book and the reader who connects with her is left somewhat in the dark about why she is the way she is and maybe let down at her future at the end of the book. All in all, its one to read.
