PB - This one started out simple enough "Savage" a former Navy Seal and now a Security Specialist is hired to provide security for a Japanese businessman. He doesn't get too much information but goes along doing the driving. The businessman is accompanied by a Japanese security man (Akira), and the three of them end up at strange nearly empty hotel in NJ. Savage and Akira take turns standing watch for several days when suddenly they are attacted by wooden sword wielding men. Savage suffers broken arms, legs and cracked skull and sees Akira have his head cut off by a real sword and then the businessman cut in half by the same sword wielder. Next we find Savage in the hospital in painful recovery. I could go on but to skip ahead Savage, now recovered is given another assignment, to recover the sister of a famous actress and now head of a small Mediterranean island principality from an abusive Greek husband. In the process of the extraction he sees Akira, alive and well and this begins the second and main part of the book as Savage begins to discover that much of what thought happened, didn't in his past. Cruiser and cruiser as Alice remarked and it is by far. A fairly good read despite the twisted and intertwined story line.
